The temple with the largest main compartment in Vietnam – new destination attracting tourists

On March 3, Ba Vang Pagoda (Uong Bi, Quang Ninh) with its main compartment of 3,500 m2 setting a Vietnam record will be inaugurated after a long period of renovation.

The history of Ba Vang Pagoda

In 1706, Zen Master Tue Bich built Ba Vang Pagoda (the name of Bao Quang Tu) as lighting the faith, resuming the Truc Lam Yen Tu after 300 years of interruption. Located in the Yen Tu mountain range, the Bao Quang ancient shrine was once a ruin of time and the feudal wars devastated, surrounded the temple with only forest cover.

Since its foundation in 1987, the temple has been quietly witnessing the changes of time with no abbot. The road leading up to the mountain was denser and denser and the restoration of the government gradually downgraded and then Bao Quang has become a deserted temple.

Restoration

Recognizing that Ba Vang pagoda has many historical and spiritual values, Quang Ninh People’s Committee has ranked the historical relic located in the middle of the ecological nature.
In 2007, the local authority requested the Zen master Thich Truc Thai Minh, the head of the department of welcoming visitors in Truc Lam Yen Tu, to become the Zen master of Ba Vang pagoda.

Standing in front of the ruined pagoda, Zen Master Thich Truc Thai Minh suddenly saw the well in the temple grounds, before drying up suddenly filled with water. At that time, he determined to rebuild the temple from two empty hands. He and his disciples called on visitors to contribute to the restoration of the temple on a large scale and now it is recognized as the largest mountain temple in Vietnam by the Organization of records Vietnam confirmed.

On March 9th, the pagoda is expected to welcome about 30,000 Buddhists and visitors to cross the border and participate in activities such as the completion ceremony, the inauguration of the temple, Dhamma talk, and vegetarian banquet.
