3rd international marathon in Sapa

As one of the largest international marathons in Vietnam, this annual event always attracts attention of thousands of people. This year, the third marathon of this type will be organized in Sapa in two days of 26 and 27 September 2015.

This year’s international marathon expects to have the participation of nearly 1,000 athletes from more than 40 countries and territories all over the world. This is not only a competition of domestic and international athletes, but also an opportunity to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese country and people as well as promote Sapa as a destination of sports activities.

Mr. Asger Koppen – a representative of organizing board said, “The mountain marathon in Vietnam expresses marathon passion and love for Vietnam. We want to organize a sports event for marathon’s lovers, thereby emphasizing importance of healthy lifestyles.”

Participating in the race, the athletes will have the opportunity to experience the spectacular and poetic natural scenery in one of the most beautiful mountain regions in Viet Nam. With 4 contents in the distances of 10km, 21km, 42km, and 70km, the race will take place in Sapa District with the routes, such as: Bridge 32 (National Highway No. 4D) – Sau Chau Valley – Sau Chau Village (Sa Pa Commune) – Hang Da Hamlet (Hau Thao Commune) – Su Pan 1 Commune – Den Village (Ban Ho Commune) – Topas Ecolodge Tourist Area (Thanh Kim Commune)… Topas Ecolodge Tourist Area – Muong Hoa Valley – Ta Van Village (Ta Van Commune) – Lao Chai Commune – Cat Cat Village (San Sa Ho Commune)… Each route will includes challenges like climbing, downhill in erratic weather with strong sunshine and heavy rain, which require endurance and skill of athletes to conquer.
